This bibliography has more than 1,000 entries, including a mix of academic sources and articles from the popular press.
It is searchable by using CTRL+F (for PCs) or Command+F (for Macs).
Most of the entries on the bibliography are also cross-listed in one or more sub-bibliographies, thus making it easier for researchers to get a quick sense of what has been written about a particular topic (e.g., social media, ethics, etc.)
For context, bracketed information is often added to the entries; e.g., a vague headline such as “Announcer Breaking Barriers” might be revised as “[ESPN Baseball] Announcer [Jessica Mendoza] Breaking Barriers.”
Most entries deal with coverage of North American sports and members of the U.S.-based sports media.
Bibliographic entries from popular press sources represent a variety of newspapers, geographically, but do admittedly tilt toward the New York tabloid media, since this is what the compiler frequently reads – and because the New York tabloids are especially aggressive in covering both N.Y. and national sports media developments.
Also, the bibliography admittedly tilts toward baseball – though entries about other sports are in no way excluded.
To keep the bibliography current – and to correct any disproportionate leanings toward baseball and New York-based media – visitors to this site are invited to submit additional entries.
